Where Can I Find Content for My Site?

by Nicole Dean

As a blogger or website publisher, you have probably heard about the importance of content. You need content for your weekly ezine, content for your website to keep it fresh, and even more content if you’re selling your own ebooks. Yikes! Now, before you break into a sweat, there are ways to get all of the content that you could possibly need — without sitting on your bottom for 12 hours each day, typing your little fingers off.

Why do you need content? There are a few reasons.

First of all, the search engines reward content. They are in the information business, so they reward more quality information with more traffic to your site. That’s right. The more information you put on your website or blog, the more they’ll send you visitors. (Note, I said “quality” content?)

Second, content adds value to your website visitors. They search the internet and come to your website to find information. If you offer great info, they’re more likely to tell a friend about your site, link to you from their site, and stumbleupon your site.

Third, providing quality content establishes you as an expert in whatever your chosen field is. The more value you provide to readers, the more they begin to look at you as their information source. You’ll start receiving requests for interview and joint ventures as your arsenal of information grows. You’re reading this article right now, right? Hopefully you’ll remember me as an expert in content.

So, where do you get articles for your website or blog? Well, you have several options, each with its pros and cons.

1. Write the content yourself. This is, of course, the option that most “do it yourself” publishers choose and there’s nothing wrong with it. However, some of the options below will afford you a bit more freedom and help you to reach new levels of efficiency (and business growth).

2. Find a Writer. Go on the lookout at places like elance.com and Shelancers.com for a skilled ghostwriter that you can get onboard. Once you find that person who can write like the wind, sound just like you, and rely on — give her a raise and quickly! Seriously, though, it is important to test any new writer on a small project before giving him or her a large one. Many of the top gurus rely heavily on their ghostwriters. The President relies on his speech writers. It’s not a bad thing to get a little help with your writing needs. Plus, you can always edit your articles to sound more like you before anyone else ever sees them.

3. Partner up. Go through your list of online buddies and ask a few to become columnists for your site. They’ll benefit by getting the free advertising from your readers, and you’ll benefit by receiving additional UNIQUE content on your site.

4. Check out the Article Directories. Popular article directories like Isnare.com, EzineArticles.com and FreeAffiliateArticles.com offer a variety of informative articles written by respected experts in a variety of fields. You may reprint these articles on your site as long as you include the author bio that is included at the end. See the bottom of this article for an example — mine.

5. Load up with Private Label Rights (PLR) . PLR content was created to fill a need that we, as website owners have — the ongoing need for quality content. When you purchase PLR articles, you have nearly 100% freedom to use them. You can edit the articles, modify them for your market, create viral reports from them, or even use them to write your first book. The problem is finding quality PLR articles. There is a lot of junk out there. In order to choose a quality service, be sure to find one that has been around for awhile (not some fly-by-night site). Also, check that the articles have been professionally written and edited. Were the articles created specifically for that site or are they recycled from other PLR sites? Once you find a great PLR site, you’ll wish that you started sooner.

Well, that’s a quick intro to getting content for your site. I hope it gives you some ideas to help you build a booming online business. My wish for you is to work smarter, not harder — and watch your online business grow!
