Persuade to Get What You Want

Dave Lakhani is a talented speaker, author and trainer. His areas of expertise are marketing and business strategy. Dave has been featured in several magazines including “Selling Power”, “Sales and Marketing Management”, “Entrepreneur”, “Business Solutions”, “Retail Systems Reseller”, “Integrated Solutions”, “Home Office Computing”, and “PC Magazine”.

Aside from magazines, Dave Lakhani wrote the number one bestselling book “Persuasion – The Art of Getting What You Want”. He has also been seen on radio and television programs like “The Today Show”. Dave is a Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, and he has studied people like Jay Abraham and Zig Ziglar who are leaders in the sales and marketing industry.

Dave’s training techniques have been used to boost some very big names including IBM, the U.S. Army, Rogers Media, Micron, GE and Wizard Academy. He didn’t start in marketing, though. In fact, Dave Lakhani was raised in a cult called the Branhamites, and has since left to do a lot of different types of jobs.

Shortly after leaving the cult, Dave Lakhani was a cowboy and then a professional fighter. Later in the 80’s, he took a law enforcement position as an undercover drug cop. None of those jobs satisfied him. It wasn’t until he started helping people become persuasive that he discovered his true passion.

When Dave finally discovered his passion, he also learned something incredible that many others have learned: following your passion makes work no longer seem like work, and money seems to roll in with very little effort. Upon leaving the cult, Dave went straight to the Andrew Carnegie Library to try to come to an understanding of why his mother would choose to raise him in a cult environment. His learning was far more valuable when he learned how the art of persuasion can be applied to sales instead.

Dave Lakhani’s persuasion definition is “helping people come to their own most logical conclusion, which also happens to be one you share”. Persuasion is similar to, but also very different from manipulation. Persuasion is a way to help people make a decision based on the information you give them. Manipulation has an underlying intent to confuse or deceive people.

Manipulation isn’t necessary when you find a passion you truly love. The passion becomes something infectious. People see what your goals are, and your enthusiasm builds rapport. They rest assured that you have their best interest at heart because they see the fire burning within you.
