Revealed: 7 Tips To Rise To The Top of Search Engines

by Raam Anand

SEO is not something which you can take up once and then forget. The search engine algorithms change quite often, so what did well last year may not perform in the same way this year. So you need to be committed to continuously strive for improvement.

Out of the hundreds of techniques that may or may not work, here are a few that always produces great results.

Updated Content Old and archaic information is not what the search engines prefer. They want fresh and latest content. Ensure you keep your website updated regularly.

Visitors Want Quality Content Why would you want someone to come to your website? To buy something? Yeah… but that is only AFTER they see what you got to offer on your website. People visit search engines to find information. By providing people what they want, you will gain what you want.

Meta tags Use Meta tags. They are the invisible tags and the search engines can identify them for categorization of content. Do not stuff your meta data with keywords. Use your commonsense and put whatever is necessary.

Heading tag Bold text and headlines on your web page should always be enclosed between H1 and H2 tags. This enables the search engines to decipher your content properly and give weightage to proper keywords. This will help in indexing too.

Site map A site map should always be considered. Using the site maps, the search engines can navigate through each page of your website to index every single page.

Keywords Use keywords in the articles and make them bold. But don’t overdo this; it is really a big put-off! Find out which keywords your website visitors are like to be searching for and use in your text, anchor text, body copy and image alt tags.

External links Getting quality link backs from other websites will boost your search engine rankings quickly. However, be cautious and strive to get back-links only from relevant websites. Try to get back links to pages on your website other than the home page.
