Traffic: Don’t Under Estimate It’s Importance
One thing that constantly bugs me about many of the products that get released is that they don’t tell you how to bring traffic to your site. You get a large e-book that tells you how to build an amazing site but not one chapter on traffic generation
When I was starting out I spent lots of money on site building tools and keyword tools and nothing on learning how to generate traffic. I now know how stupid that was. The tools might have been the best in the world but without traffic the end results were worthless.
You can have the best looking site in the world, with the perfect keywords but if you don’t know how to firstly attract the search engine spiders and then real human visitors then the site is going to have no value. Try selling a website and the first thing you will be asked is “What is the Income & what’s the traffic” The income is not particularly important. If I am buying a site I actually want the income to be as low as possible as it will be cheaper for me. Given a choice of a site with an income of $100 a month and 1000 visitors or a site with $10 per month and 2000 Visitors I’ll always go for the visitors.
Take time to develop your own traffic delivery system and you’ll have one less thing to worry about. Take time to find out what works and what doesn’t. I created a video for my members yesterday about how to get a site indexed and start generating traffic and I found something that got a new site into Google in less than 18 hours.
Using that method was completely new to me and although it impressed me it might have been a lucky one-off. I used it on another new domain this morning and found that it only took 3 hours before my site was referenced in Google. 3 Hours! Now that is very impressive.
The method I used has not been mentioned in any of the traffic generation products I’ve read. However this is not too surprising as traffic generation is constantly evolving. Google change their algorithms and sites fall out of favor or become favored. It was only a few months ago that Squidoo was the best place to start your link building. Now it’s fallen out of favor.
The easiest way to find the services that work is by seeing what ranks well in Google. Personally I will focus on Internet Marketing terms as marketers tend to be ahead of the pack on most things related to site promotion. I’ll then locate what services they are using to get links back to their sites and then test them on my new sites. If they work the get added to my spreadsheet and then used until something more effective comes along.
By constantly monitoring whats working and what isn’t you’ll soon build up a list of good sites. When it comes to launch a site use these sites to generate traffic and to get your site ranking high for your chosen keywords.
